Analysis and opinion about Oppo Find X2 Neo: design, screen, performance, battery, camera, multimedia, sound, competitors, and price.
OPPO is establishing itself as one of the most interesting brands in terms of value for money, as well as offering functionalities such as the high refresh rate of the screen or the super-fast loading that are not yet present in all devices.
A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to test the Oppo Find X2 Pro, a full-fledged flagship ready to stand up to the big smartphones from other manufacturers. Today we bring a model with more adjusted features but also with a more affordable price: OPPO Find X2 Neo.

The Oppo Find X2 Neo has a 6.5 ″ 90 Hz AMOLED FullHD + screen, Snapdragon 765G 5G processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, wide-angle rear camera (48MP) + ultra-wide angle (8MP) + 2x telephoto lens (13MP) + monochrome (2MP), 32MP front camera, and 4,025 mAh battery with fast charging at 30W.
Courtesy of OPPO, I have had the opportunity to thoroughly test the OPPO Find X2 Neo for several weeks, and then I bring you my in-depth review.
Oppo Find X2 Neo Review
The OPPO Find X2 Neo has a modern front, with a large screen surrounded by narrow frames on all four sides, achieving a screen-to-body ratio of 90%.
Following the latest trends, OPPO has incorporated the front camera in a hole punched in the screen itself. Its position in the upper left corner does not interfere with games or full-screen videos – something other smartphones cannot boast of.
The screen has a pronounced curvature on the sides, which produces some reflections when looking at the screen, especially from a certain angle.

The back of the OPPO Find X2 Neo is made of glass. The phone is available in black and blue, both with a glossy finish that is a magnet for fingerprints.
On the back, the large elongated camera module stands out, which protrudes from the surface of the phone and makes it dance when it touches the screen when it is resting on a table.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo is one of the lightest and thinnest smartphones that I have tested, with a thickness of only 7.7 mm and a weight of 171 grams. A great success for those fleeing from bulky smartphones.

Unfortunately, OPPO has not provided the phone with water and dust resistance, so you must be careful that it does not accidentally get wet.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo has a 6.5 ″ AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, which implies a pixel density of 402 dpi, more than enough to guarantee high sharpness.

The screen offers a wide color range as it covers all of the sRGB and DCI P3 color spaces, and is compatible with the playback of HDR content, although I have not been able to access HDR content from Netflix (but I did from YouTube).
The display features excellent color fidelity, especially in the Vivid color mode targeting the DCI P3 color range, as well as a very high peak brightness of 777 nits (with the screen illuminated at 100%), above almost all smartphones that I have tested to date.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo also features a low brightness screen flicker-free visual comfort mode that applies the technique known as DC Dimming.
We are faced with a panel with a high refresh rate of 90 Hz that makes animations look much smoother. Some manufacturers already offer panels at 120 Hz but the difference between 90 and 120 Hz is not as noticeable as the jump between 60 and 90 Hz.
Surprisingly, the screen does not offer an Always Active Screen mode to permanently see the time, battery level, and notification icons, I do not know what has led OPPO to omit this functionality since other smartphones of the brand with OLED screens do have it.

OPPO has incorporated a fingerprint reader under the screen that allows you to unlock the phone just by resting your finger while the Screen is Always Active. Now, since the phone does not have an Always Active Screen, the fingerprint reading area does not always appear visible but only when the phone detects movement.
The fingerprint reader is reliable when it comes to identifying the fingerprint and offers a fairly wide reading area, so you will have no problem when unlocking the phone.
In addition, it also incorporates 2D facial recognition, which works quickly although it is not as secure as a fingerprint or 3D facial recognition systems from other manufacturers.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo has powerful hardware as it has a Snapdragon 765G processor, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage.

In the benchmarks, the smartphone has obtained high scores in all the tests, as expected. Obviously, it cannot compete in power against smartphones with a Snapdragon 865 chip but, for most users, the performance of the OPPO Find X2 Neo is more than enough.
On a day-to-day basis, the interface moves very smoothly and I have not noticed any signs of lag or slowness in any app.
The latest games are not a problem for this smartphone either. I have been able to measure stable rates of 30 or 60 FPS in games like Asphalt 9, Dead Effect 2, or Call of Duty. I have only encountered a momentary pause in Asphalt 9, although I do not think it is due to a lack of power.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo does not allow to increase storage via micro-SD although, with 256 GB onboard, this should not be a big problem.
In the connectivity aspect, the OPPO Find X2 Neo supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac at 2.4GHz and 5GHz, 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6), Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, but lacks FM radio. . It is compatible with 5G NSA networks (but not SA) and supports the band below 6 GHz (Sub-6) but not the mmWave band (probably because this forces to add additional antennas that take up space and increase the price ).
Unfortunately, OPPO does not offer a space for a second SIM card nor is it compatible with eSIM, so you cannot enjoy Dual SIM in the Find X2 Neo. This can be a problem for some users who are used to carrying two SIMs – one personal and the other professional – or who travel to other countries.
The smartphone has a 4,025 mAh battery that offers good autonomy without being spectacular. In general, you will have no problem reaching the end of the day with good use of the phone, although I would not have minded seeing a battery with more capacity at the cost of somewhat higher thickness.
If you run out of battery, you’ll be happy to know it offers 30W Flash VOOC 4.0 fast charging. In half an hour, we reach around 68% charge, and the entire charging process takes just 55 minutes.
Unfortunately, it does not have wireless charging, an absence that reduces comfort when charging the smartphone.
In the multimedia aspect, it incorporates stereo speakers at the top and bottom of the phone. The sound is heard quite loud and rich in tones – within what you would expect from a smartphone. In addition, it has Dolby Atmos, which provides greater depth to the sound.
At the software level, it comes with Android 10 and, above the operating system, OPPO has incorporated its own ColorOS 7 customization layer.
This layer adds a large number of functionalities that complement Android such as granular permissions for apps, cloning of applications for multi-account, gestures on the screen off, smart sidebar, application lock, safe keyboard, smart driving, hide apps on the desktop, and a safe to protect files.
One aspect I don’t like about ColorOS 7 is that Google Discover cannot be accessed on the left screen, instead a screen called Smart Assistant is displayed of little use.
ColorOS 7 incorporates a theme manager, but outside of Asia, we can only choose one theme, so it is of no use.
When it comes to enjoying games, OPPO includes functionality called Games Space, which improves the performance of games by allocating more hardware resources, limiting network access to other apps to improve latency, and prevents automatic brightness adjustments. , open Messenger / WhatsApp in a window, and record the screen with audio during games.
In the photographic section, the OPPO Find X2 Neo has a quad rear camera made up of a 48MP f / 1.7 OIS main camera, a 13MP f / 2.4 2x telephoto camera, an 8MP f / 2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, and a camera 2MP monochrome.

By default, the main 48MP camera uses pixel binning to capture photos at 12MP, although it offers a super high-resolution mode that takes advantage of the full 48MP resolution to get sharper photos (but that take up almost three times space).
In good light conditions, images taken by the main camera look sharp and colorful, and when light is low, snapshots maintain good image quality.
Like any camera worth its salt, it offers AI scene detection functionalities as well as a Night mode capable of taking pictures in very low light – although these look somewhat artificial since they are perceived too bright.
The ultra-wide-angle camera is ideal for taking pictures of landscapes or monuments, as it offers a totally different perspective. The downside is that, in low light conditions, quality suffers from the absence of optical stabilization and a more limited aperture.
Finally, the telephoto camera offers 2x optical zoom but has some limitations, such as the absence of optical stabilization and a reduced aperture that make the image a lot of noise and poor sharpness at night.
The main camera allows taking photos in Portrait mode in combination with the 2MP monochrome camera that captures depth information.
In my tests, the image quality of portraits is excellent, with good separation between the subject and background. However, portraits are taken with the main camera (wide angle) rather than the telephoto camera, so close-ups will show some deformation of the face if you get too close.
The OPPO Find X2 Neo can record 4K video at 30 fps, 1080p at 30/60 fps, and 720p at 30/60 fps with good image quality and stabilization, which still improves with some of the ultra-stabilization modes that it incorporates.
The front camera has a resolution of 32MP, so it is capable of capturing selfies with great clarity and a wide dynamic range thanks to the use of HDR. This camera also allows you to capture photos in Portrait mode with good results, although the HDR is lost.

Is the OPPO Find X2 Neo worth buying? If you are looking for a smartphone with an attractive design, an excellent screen, powerful 5G-ready hardware, fast charging, and a fairly competent camera, the OPPO Find X2 Neo is a good option.
Now, in the market you will find smartphones that exceed them in certain sections at a lower price, so the purchase decision will depend on what you value in a smartphone.
