Google launches Android 11 with its first developer preview

Google has advanced this year and surprisingly launched the first version for Android 11 developers, the next installment of the world’s most popular operating system.

As expected, this first version is specifically focused on changes aimed at developers, and we should not expect aesthetic changes until the Beta version that will be launched in May during the Google I / O event.

Its early launch will allow Android 11 to go through 3 versions for developers before the Beta version, which will give Google, as well as developers, time to prepare to improve the system and application update, which by true, they must be compatible with Android 11 by the year 2021.

Among the novelties that Google will offer us on Android 11, we find mainly five major themes, which we can summarize as follows

  • Innovation: Improvements in the 5G connectivity of Android phones, support for new screen types – such as cascade screens – and support for people and conversations anchored in the notifications section.
  • Privacy: In Android 10 the possibility of allowing apps to use the location only when they are in use was introduced, well, Android 11 will take the same thing a little further, being able to allow only once sensitive permissions, such as location, microphone or camera.
  • Security: There will be improvements in biometric recognition, the security of our storage and support for storing our identification documents, such as a driver’s license, directly on the phone.
  • Updates: System updates through Google Play will have twelve new modules to update and reach more manufacturers, allowing Google to update the operating system to improve form.
  • Polishing Android 10: Google will take the previous version of Android and will significantly improve different aspects of connectivity, image/camera, and video latency.

The final version will be available during the third quarter of the year for Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a and Pixel 4 phones, along with their respective XL versions. These same phones are the ones that can be downloaded from today is the first developer preview.
